Choosing Trout Lures 

Start with the water and the depth you need to fish before choosing a lure by color or brand. Spinners and spoons can cover water efficiently, while crankbaits, jigs and other lure styles may better fit specific depths, forage profiles or retrieve styles. 

There is no single best trout lure for every fishery. Match lure size, weight, action and retrieve to the trout, water and conditions you are actually fishing.
